Competition for the Redensification at the Angerbach

Freising

The urban development concept focuses on a permanent, site-appropriate building layout that interlocks with the cultural landscape and the surrounding buildings. This is achieved by “planting” different types of buildings that benefit from each other in a variety of ways, arranged next to each other, similar to a permaculture.

The planned development relates to the neighborhood in terms of scale: row buildings, point blocks and multifunctional hybrids result in a good mix and grain that opens up to the landscape. The intermittent development creates a summery green fabric that embeds the buildings with quality and a high degree of privacy for the residential units. The point blocks are wooden buildings with wooden façades embedded in the existing greenery. The buildings consist of interlocking cubes that form attractive roof terraces.

The existing ecosystem is preserved, timber buildings with a very good CO2 balance permanently store the carbon dioxide stored in the regionally produced material. The flat roofs have multiple functions and combine rainwater retention, insect-friendly greenery and energy generation through photovoltaics. The buildings, designed in accordance with the EH40 efficiency house standard, have a low energy requirement that can be covered by the district energy concept. Mobility solutions with e-mobility, bicycles and cargo bikes ensure low emissions.
