Theatre Trier
Refurbishment and expansion,
Trier
Theater Trier is a three-genre repertory theatre offering musical theatre, dance, acting and musicals.
The programme also includes numerous concerts by the Trier Philharmonic Orchestra. Built in the 1960s by Gerhard Graubner, the building is in great need of renovation, both structurally and technically. There are also considerable space issues.
The tendering process for the renovation and expansion of the Trier Theatre is linked to a parallel
design competition. New plans include an entrance hall with catering facilities and a multifunctional third performance venue, as well as an orchestra rehearsal room. These new buildings will be connected to the existing structure like two wings.
The extensions offer opportunities for urban redevelopment between Augustinerhof and Viehmarkt. The new entrance opens onto Gerty-Spies-Straße, creating a theatre square. The old entrance building will be removed.
The renovation and extension will create a sustainable and flexible building that is equipped to the highest technical standards for long-term and multifunctional use.
In collaboration with our partners Fabre Speller Architectes, MOW is responsible for the general planning and renovation, while Studio PFP Hamburg has been commissioned to design the new building.
